Thursday, May 7

Today we were very busy. First, we went to Arlington National Semetary. Than, we visited the Iwo Jima memorial. It was a statue of six men raising a flag. The cool part was that when we drove around the monument we saw the illusion of the flag being raised up into the air.

Arlington National Cemetary was one of my favorite visits so far. When we were at the cemetary, we first stopped at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. There, we saw the Changing of the Guard Ceremony. This was really especially intresting because of the movments of the Guards. Each move made was exactl and well planned out. After, we saw the Eternal Flame. This was a monumet to JFK that showed that his spirt and vision will continue to be remembered by our country.

The Iwo Jima Memorial was a intresting and beautiful memorial thats showed the soldiers raising the flag on Mt. Suribachi. There were six people who raised the flag and out of those six three of them were killed. The memorial is a optical illusion memorial which shows that if you drive around the memorial it will look like the 6 men are rasing the flag. The memorial was my favorite memorial and I wont forget about it.
